A visit to the National Aviary…

I had the opportunity to visit the National Aviary on the North Side of Pittsburgh yesterday and had an absolutely incredible time. I’m not really sure why I’ve never gone before, but it was just awesome. We had a tour orchestrated by Janet — and if you go, make sure that you get Janet to take you around — she is just flat out incredibly knowledgeable and so excited to share this knowledge. I can’t speak highly enough of everybody else who works at the National Aviary, either. Get there — you won’t regret it!

Big Apple Hodgepodge…

I’m not really sure how to categorize these – observations from my trip, I guess…

From Eataly, 23rd and Broadway - oh my...

I thought this was on the ironic side...

... And thought this was much more appropriate...

I got one of these for Christmas when I was in 3rd grade. They were made by Honda - you pushed back on that piece and it took off...

I spent a little time at Strawberry Fields - actually, less than I was hoping to, mainly because this was all that was going on the entire time. I wonder how many of the people actually even knew who Lennon was.

This fountain was in Battery Park and these kids were having an absolute ball. Not sure what kind of a group it was, but the girl on the right was one of the counselors and the others worked for about half an hour before they could finally get her out in to the fountain.

Shenanigans...

Southwest Greensburg Adaptive Baseball

I had the opportunity to spend some time today taking photos of the athletes taking part in Southwest Greensburg’s Adaptive Baseball League. This league, which is in its 17th year, is one of the oldest of its kind in Western Pennsylvania. Many other leagues have sprouted up in the area as a result of the success found in this league, providing hundreds of exceptional athletes the opportunity to show off their skills on the diamond. It was also great to see the buddies who volunteer their time to help out. Do yourself a favor and get to a game – you won’t regret one minute of the time you spend doing this!

Photo of the Week: Tony and Noha…

I recently had the opportunity to spend some time in Washington, D.C. with my brother Tony and his wife, Noha. It was a getaway of sorts for me, but also a chance to spend more time with these two, which was even more fun. I had the chance to take a lot of photos, but this one is probably my favorite. We spent the day walking around Annapolis, toured the Naval Academy, had lunch at Pusser’s and just had a great time. In addition to all of that, I really wish I could pull off that hat like Tony can! Thank you so much to both of you for the hospitality and a tremendous getaway…

Photo of the Week: Jen and Emily…

I had one of those weekends – everything just went the way it was supposed to. The rain held off for the wedding and only hit for about 15 minutes during the Westmoreland Croquet Tournament. I had a lot of photos to choose from for this week’s Photo of the Week, but kept coming back to this shot of Jen, the beautiful bride, and her niece Emily. After some nervousness, Emily just flat out lit up once getting to spend some time with Jen – and it’s pretty obvious to see in this shot.
